Earl is a bit of a loner. He's kind and treats people right but doesn't always get the same treatment in return. He doesn't understand his own potential, but luckily, he has Verity to help him discover it.

If there was ever a character more clueless and innocent than Earl, it was Verity. Like Earl, she's a loner, but unlike him, she doesn't even realize it.  Like two peas in a pod, her own potential for good is stagering, but neither she nor Earl have any clue of it.
